The Best Baby Monitor- Nanit Pro Smart Baby Monitor Review
As a new parent, you are probably on the hunt for the best of every baby product- bassinets, bottles, swaddles, baby monitors etc.
I remember scrolling through Amazon while I was pregnant and seeing tons of different options for baby monitors. Like most baby products, there were TONS of options.
At first, we went with one without a camera. For context, we live in a one bedroom apartment with our little one. We went back on forth on whether or not we would actually need a monitor with a camera since we’re in such tight quarters to begin with.
However, about 8 months in, we decided to look into other options. The Nanit Pro Smart Baby Monitor was an option we wished we saw sooner.
In this post, I will give you a full review of this baby monitor as well as share with you some of the pros and cons. Then you can decide if this monitor would be right for you!

The features of this monitor are what sold us! Here are some of the features that made it worth buying.
Monitor Baby’s Breathing
When you have a newborn, you are on high alert while they are sleeping. Especially as a new parent, you are constantly checking up on your little one.
This baby monitor comes with a belly band you can wrap around your baby that will track their breathing. You will get an alert if your baby ever stops breathing.
Easy to Use App
I love being able to watch our son from anywhere by using the app on my phone.
The app comes with TONS of features such as sharing milestones, tracking baby’s growth and breathing, activity such as motion or sound detected, and more.
It will share when your baby falls asleep. (Example: I fell asleep _ minutes ago)
Clear Camera Picture-Night Vision + Adjustable Field
Night vision is probably a no-brainer when it comes to baby monitors. But having a crystal clear picture makes monitoring your baby so much easier.
You are also able to adjust the visual field of the camera to ensure you are only focused on where you want it to be.
On the app, you are able to make the video stream full screen and zoom in to get a closer look at your little one.
Motion & Sound Notifications
Another great feature of this monitor is that it will notify you when it detects motion or sounds from your baby’s crib. So even if you aren’t watching the camera, your phone will go off to let you know that your baby is waking up.
Pros and Cons of the Nanit Pro
Like any product, there will be some pros and cons. I’m going to share what we like best about the Nanit Pro Smart Baby Monitor as well as some things we think are drawbacks.
Pros of the Nanit Pro Baby Monitor
The features I listed above are some of the positives of this monitor. But there’s definitely more things we love about it!
One of the cool things about this baby monitor is that it has a built in night light and can be used as a sound machine. If you are looking for an all-in-one product, this monitor would definitely be it.
Another thing that helps ensure your baby is comfortable is that you can see what the temperature and humidity is in the room your baby is sleeping in.
So in addition to tracking your baby’s breathing, you can also make sure that the room isn’t too hot or cold. If you happen to notice your baby waking up at a time they normally wouldn’t, knowing the temperature could help determine if they are maybe uncomfortable.
Lastly, you are able to add users to the app. So if a family member is watching your baby and wants to be able to use the monitor from their phone, you can invite them through the app.
Cons of the Nanit Pro Baby Monitor
We really don’t have complaints about this monitor, but there are a few things to consider and keep in mind.
Since we purchased this monitor when our son was already 8 months old, the breathing band did not fit him. So if this was a feature you were wanting to use, I would recommend having this monitor from day one.
Although we couldn’t use the band for our son, we plan to use it for a future baby, so it won’t go to waste.
Second, I mentioned how you can receive notifications if motion or sound is detected in or near your baby’s crib.
To give a little context, we lived in a one bedroom apartment with our son. So what would be our dining room area was actually used as a nursery. As a result, there will always be activity happening near the crib.
While it’s great to have the option to receive those notifications, we were getting A TON for this reason.
This wasn’t a major issue because we were able to turn off those notifications. But this was something that got a little crazy at first.
We have had no other issues with this monitor.
Is the Nanit Pro Smart Baby Monitor Worth It?
The Nanit Pro Smart Baby Monitor a little up there in price, but I would truly say it is worth it. With all of the features I mentioned, you are definitely getting your money’s worth.
Despite the small cons, there really is nothing we have found majorly wrong with this monitor. It was easy to install and we love having an overhead view so we can see exactly what goes on in the crib.
The Nanit Pro Smart Baby Monitor was a baby purchase we don’t regret!
